On a whim, author D.K. Savage (DKS) decided to investigate the "forgotten" branch of his family linked to his paternal grandmother, Elizabeth. She died a decade before he was born, and was little talked-about.
He long wondered. What was her history – the part of his own he knew nothing about. What he uncovered astounded him, and inspired this story.
The Lia & Lusk adventures are based on the true lineage DKS discovered, stretching more than 25 generations to 11th Century Medieval England, including centuries of nobility.
Somehow, they survived (though often barely long enough to produce the next generation) innumerable wars, political upheavals, violence and the Black Plague which killed nearly half the adult population of mid-14th Century England. The line remained unbroken against astronomical odds. How?
Historical details are based on real events and the author's true ancestral lineage It is, however, a work of fiction. Names, characters, places and events are either products of the author's imagination or, if real, are used fictitiously.
"The reality of life in Medieval England is even more magical, mysterious, funny and frightening than the fantasy we've read or seen in movies and television!
"It is far more complex, alien, familiar and diverse than we've been conditioned to believe.
"The things we have in common with our ancestors are vital to helping us understand who we are today...and who we will become."

In 2022, and much to his astonishment, DKS discovered for the first time that he is a great-great-great (etc. etc.) grandson of numerous Knights, Ladies, Barons, Baronesses and assorted other English Nobility dating to the 11th century, as well as high-ranking military officers. The Sheriff of London in 1499 was a direct ancestor.
His British and Scottish forbears came to Colonial America in the early 1600s. His 4x-great grandfather was a decorated Major in the American Revolutionary Army.
